The favorite class at Chikushi Jogakuen UniversityーBuddhism and Traditional Culture

The Ikebana class is a wonderful experience where you can learn to arrange flowers in an artistic and elegant way. The best part is that after the class, you can take your beautifully arranged flowers home and enjoy them. The tea ceremony class is equally enjoyable, offering delicious traditional snacks and excellent tea in a beautifully designed tea room that creates a peaceful atmosphere. Another great thing about these classes is that there’s no homework, allowing you to simply relax and immerse yourself in Japanese culture.

The happiest thing about my time in Japan has been making many great friends, who have made my experience feel even more meaningful and fulfilling.

Joyful Study Abroad Life

My study abroad life has been full of joy, from seeing otters and making friends with the school’s kitten, to participating in an International Cuisine Competition. I also visited Cat Island, explored Oita Prefecture, and enjoyed a trip to Okinawa, making my experience in Japan unforgettable.

Things I struggled to adapt to during my study abroad life

During my study abroad life, one of the biggest challenges I faced was adapting to living alone. Without the familiar presence of my family, I often found myself missing home. Additionally, having no one to remind me to rest, I developed a habit of staying up late, which sometimes made it harder to maintain a healthy routine. Adjusting to this new lifestyle took time, but it also helped me grow more independent.

The warm-hearted people I met during my study abroad experience

The dormitory manager is incredibly thoughtful and caring. She often adds extra food for us during meals, and when I first arrived in Japan, she gave me a hairdryer. When I had a fever, she even brought the meals to my room to make sure I was okay. During the New Year's holiday in Japan, she showed her kindness by giving me a lot of snacks.

My growth

Living alone for the first time has been a transformative experience for me, helping me become more mature and independent. I've learned to handle various procedures on my own and even navigate hospital visits by myself, which has boosted my confidence. At the same time, my Japanese has improved significantly, and I’ve made many great friends, making this journey even more rewarding.
